Appointments

The doctors will see you in surgery by appointment, which can be made either by coming in or by telephoning the receptionist on 01382 221527.

We have appointments that are prebookable, 4 weeks in advance, and appointments that are bookable on the day.

You can request to see a particular doctor, but may have to wait longer for this appointment.

Urgent cases for medical problems only are always seen on the same day but you may have to wait, as you are likely to be seen during a booked surgery. Sick children are seen as soon as possible if brought to the surgery (this maybe quicker than a home visit). If in doubt about bringing a child out, please telephone first and a doctor can advise.

To make an appointment on the day please try and call as near to 8am as possible.  The lines maybe engaged but reception staff endeavour to answer calls as quickly as possible.  If you wish to prebook an appointment, for a future date, you do not need to call at 8am.

We also have a doctor consulting on a Monday evening and one GP consulting on a Saturday morning (not every Saturday morning). These appointments are pre-bookable and are for people who work or have other commitments and cannot attend the surgery during the day. The surgery will not dealing with any other enquiries as the telephone will be connected to the Out fo Hours Service. You will not been seen unless you have an appointment. If you require medical advice during these times please telephone NHS 24 on 08454 24 24 24.

Please let the reception staff know as soon as possible if you cannot keep your appointment. We expect that patients will understand the appointments are for one person only. Additional appointments should be made for more than one person.

HOME VISITS - Only for patients unfit to attend the surgery

If you require a home visit, please telephone before 9:30AM. This helps the doctors to plan their day and avoids unnecessary delays. Visits are for those who are housebound or too ill to go out. Otherwise, please try to come to one of the surgeries. Any requests after 9:30AM may be deferred to the following day, at the discretion of the duty doctor. The doctor may phone patient back therefore please leave a contact number.

TELEPHONE ADVICE / ENQUIRY LINE

Requests for help and advice for non-urgent matters should be made during surgery hours only. Many problems can be solved by advice only; therefore patients should not always expect a prescription.

If you require medical advice, please call our enquiry line on 01382 221527.The receptionist will deal with your query and, if appropriate, will pass your query on to a doctor or nurse. The doctor or nurse will call you back after surgery.

PATIENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Patients are responsible for their own health, and the health of their children, and should cooperate with the practice in endeavouring to keep themselves healthy. We give you professional help and advice - please act on it!

We ask that patients treat staff and doctors with courtesy and respect. Bear in mind that reception staff have a very difficult job to do, juggling with limited resources and without detailed medical knowledge. They are trying to do their best for you.

VOILENT OR ABUSIVE PATIENTS

In cases where patients are physically or verbally abusive to doctors, staff or other patients, the practice reserves the right to ask the patient to immediately leave the premises. In extreme cases the police will be called. The practice also reserves the right to remove a patient that has committed an act of violence.
